NMR's Carbon Footprint
NMR, an environmentally responsible company, recently calculated its carbon footprint. All NMR staff members are full-time telecommuters, thereby reducing carbon emissions associated with daily commuting and the additional energy consumption associated with heating, cooling, and lighting office buildings. The following are some highlights from NMR’s recently completed corporate-wide carbon footprint estimate:
- NMR is responsible for approximately 40,000 lbs of carbon dioxide emissions each year, for which the company will be purchasing offset credits (after 2007 figures are finalized)
- Business-related travel accounts for 45% of our carbon footprint
- Our carbon footprint (excluding business-related travel) is just 10% of that of a similarly sized office-based business located in the Northeast United States
- NMR’s footprint is just 25% of a hypothetical similarly sized company located in a LEED Gold Certified Building in which everyone commutes in hybrid cars or walks, bikes, or uses public transportation
